Florida College Hockey Classic
The Florida College Hockey Classic (formerly the Everblades College Classic) is a college Division I men's ice hockey tournament played annually around New Years at the Germain Arena in Estero, Florida, United States.
The four-team tournament is currently hosted by the Cornell University Big Red. The other slots are filled by invitation.〔( Cornell Big Red.com ) Season’s Second Half Begins Against St. Cloud State in Florida; 24 December 2008 11:07:55 AM; Cornell University Athletics Dept〕 For the first 14 years of the tournament the University of Maine Black Bears were also a host but in January 2014 the school announced it was ending its affiliation with the tournament. The tournament champion is awarded the Ned Harkness Cup, named for the coach that won two NCAA Titles with Cornell and one with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The 2015 edition of the Florida College Hockey Classic will be played December 28 and 29, 2015. The first round match-ups will be Boston College vs. Ohio State and Cornell vs. Providence. This will be the Eagles' second appearance in the tournament, having previously won in 2004, the Buckeyes' fifth appearance, never having won the Harkness Cup, and the Friars' first appearance.
